The Clearheart Story
The Clearheart Name and How It Came To Be
I used to be chronically miserable and bitter. I couldn’t see any way to fix what was troubling me, so I put myself into therapy. What I thought would be a just few sessions turned out to change the course of my life forever. Thank God! It was pretty intense at times, but I discovered that the deeper I was willing to delve, the better I felt afterward. Not just “Gee, I feel better now,” but actually truly better, as in improved and upgraded to a higher-functioning level than I’d ever dreamed possible.
What's Your Heart Saying?
Whenever I would get lost in whatever head-spin I had put myself in, my therapist would softly ask, "What's your heart saying?" He pointed out that your head will mess with you all day long, but your heart never lies. The more you allow your head to push you around, so to speak, the less you are being true to yourself. And the more you fail to be true to yourself, the more frustrated and unhappy you make yourself.
I came to embrace this question. Every time I got out of my head and started earnestly and honestly listening to my heart, I gained insight and clarity. The insight allowed me to see what was really going on, and the clarity allowed me to see what I needed to do about the insight I had gained. I soon realized what a false life I had been living: false pretenses, false expectations, false reactions, false goals, false relationships, false me! No wonder I was miserable and bitter! It was difficult at first, but I realized that the more I listened to what my heart was saying, the more strength I gained. Then--surprise of all surprises--I actually started to enjoy life and like myself!
The heart, that massive pumping organ that gives us life, is also the center of your nonphysical being, the seat of your unique personhood, your essence, your true you.
The key for me was to be absolutely, 100%, no holds barred, clear with my heart, despite my head's ego and spin trying to get in there and call the shots. Clear means simple, transparent, free of obstruction, and beyond doubt, confusion, and head games. Being clear leads to clarity, the ability to think, understand, and "see" (in the all-knowing sense) clearly.
Being clear with your heart is very much an inward-outward process. The inward part means really listening to your heart, the core of your very being. Your heart gets to the heart of the matter. It speaks the truth.
The outward part entails acting upon your heart's messages. Easier said than done sometimes. But communicating from your heart elevates you to your best self. It may not be what others want from you, but your heart has your best interests literally at heart.
Therefore, Clearheart Communications is the perfect name for this enterprise! What could possibly be a better baseline in life than to be clear with your own heart and communicate that clarity through all your thoughts, words, and deeds? This inwward-outward process is the essence of empowerment,* and Clearheart Communications and the Clearheart Community is all about enhancing personal empowerment.
* My book, Clearheart: The Essence of Empowerment, explores this in depth.

But Wait, There's More!

There’s another wonderful coincidence about the Clearheart name. The giant coastal redwood is one of my favorite trees, and its wood is undeniably gorgeous. The term clear heart (also called heart clear, and clear all-heart) refers to the highest grade of redwood. Cut from the centermost parts of the tree, the wood is rich, clean, strong, and free of knots. Furthermore, redwood from the heart of the tree contains a natural chemical that not only gives the wood its beautiful reddish hue, but also renders the tree virtually impervious to disease. The tie-in to the Clearheart philosophy is irresistible: clear and strong at our very core; free of knots (those leftover rock-hard scars from the past); free of dis-ease (those unhealthy distractions that block communication with, and from, our heart); and ultimately, revealing our own unique inner self, our core, the most beautiful part of each of us.
The Clearheart Logo
Our logo (designed by Cloudburst Design Studio www.cloudburstdesign.com) encompasses two Cs enfolding a clear heart at the center. (Inside wink: The logo’s empty spaces suggest a slight nod to a labyrinth, used as a walking meditation from the outer edge to the center and back out again.) This reflects the message of Clearheart: Go inward to your heart, your center. Be calm and listen, then express outwardly your heart’s messages. |
